Mandiyaco Canyon

The Mandiyaco Canyon is a geomorphological wonder 441 metres long, where water has carved the rock into narrow walls and deep pools. Its name, in an Indigenous language, means "river that bites", for the force with which the river sculpts the stone.

The landscape of rock, water and suspension bridges makes it one of the most photogenic places around Mocoa. It is visited with care and, in places, with a guide.

How to get there

Via the Mocoa–San Francisco road (about an hour), then a trail to the canyon. A manual motorbike or transport is advisable depending on the state of the road.

Recommendations

  • Do not enter the canyon if the river is high
  • Local guide recommended
  • Shoes with grip and caution on wet rock
  • Entry fee: ask on WhatsApp
