How you set out
With a local guide, on your own motorbike or on foot
Some destinations are walked from the house, others need transport. We rent motorbikes and bikes right here, and arrange guides of the land for the trails that require one. The family tells you what's best based on the weather and the state of the roads that day.
Frequently asked questions
Which waterfalls should I visit near Mocoa?
The most visited are Fin del Mundo, Hornoyaco, Canalendres and the Mandiyaco Canyon, all within Mocoa. Toward Villagarzón are "Donde se oculta el sol", the Salto del Indio and the Sunguyacu reserve. From Luna Eco Casa we help you choose according to your days and your fitness.
Do I need a guide for the ecotourism tours?
For several trails (such as Fin del Mundo or the canyons) we recommend a local guide, both for safety and to support the communities that care for the land. Other nearby bathing spots can be visited on your own. We arrange the guide when needed.
How do I get to the waterfalls from Luna Eco Casa?
Some destinations are walked or reached by bike; others need a motorbike or transport. We rent motorbikes and bikes at the house and give you a marked route map. Depending on the weather and the state of the roads that day, the family tells you what's best.
What's the best time to do ecotourism in Putumayo?
You can visit year-round. In the rainy season the flows are stronger and the trails more slippery; in the dry season the waters are clearer and calmer for swimming. Ask us about the forecast before your outing.
Are the tours safe and sustainable?
Yes. We work with guides of the land, respect Indigenous paths and community reserves, and promote leaving no waste. We prioritise your safety: we don't enter canyons or rivers when they are running high.
