Mocoa itinerary: what to do in 2, 3 or 4 days

Luna Eco Casa · Updated 29 September 2026

In short

With 2 days you see one waterfall and enjoy the house; with 3 days you add a river or canyon day and a cultural encounter; with 4 days or more you take it slow and add a second waterfall or a rest day. Everything is organised from Luna Eco Casa, with local guides.

Before you start

Every route sets out from Luna Eco Casa, 3 km from the centre of Mocoa. Waterfalls and canyons are visited with local guides, and you can get around by local transport or a rented motorbike or bike. We adjust the pace to what you're after: adventure, quiet nature or rest.

Mocoa rewards those who don't rush: two days win you over, three draw you in, and four change your pace.

2 days: the essentials

Day 1: arrival, settling in and a calm afternoon to get to know the house and its surroundings; if you have energy left, the Salto del Golondrino is a few kilometres away. Day 2: an excursion to an iconic waterfall —Fin del Mundo, with its climb of nearly an hour, or the Hornoyaco— with a guide, and back to rest. It's the ideal plan for a weekend.

Add to the plan above a water day: a swim in the Rumiyaco–Caliyaco River or the Mandiyaco Canyon (about an hour along the road to San Francisco), or a stop at the C.E.A. Corpoamazonia to see the foothills' wildlife. Three days let you combine adventure, water and nature without rushing.

4 days or more: take it slow

With four days or more you can add a second waterfall, a nature trail, or head up to the Sibundoy Valley (Alto Putumayo) to discover Inga and Kamëntsá culture. Or simply slow down: yoga, rest and local life. It's what we recommend most if you're coming from far away and really want to disconnect.

How we build it with you

Tell us how many days you have and what you'd like to experience, and we design the route with you, coordinating guides and transport. We write in Spanish and in English.

  • Book excursions in advance during the high season.
  • Balance active days (waterfall) with calm ones (river or rest).
  • Leave some margin in case the weather changes the plan.
  • Ask about renting a motorbike or bike to get around at your own pace.
